Chris Baumgartner, Director
Chris Baumgartner brings a wide variety of litigation experience to Dufford & Brown. Early in his career, Chris primarily handled cases involving construction defect, medical malpractice, and personal injury litigation. Over the years, Chris's practice transitioned, with the majority of his current practice consisting of commercial litigation matters. Chris has expertise in handling all types of commercial disputes including contract, corporate and partnership disputes, real estate matters, intellectual property issues, and oil and gas litigation.
Recognizing that formal litigation culminating in a trial, with its attendant expenditure of time and costs, is rarely the most efficient way to resolve a dispute, Chris is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and arbitration. However, in almost all cases, the most efficient way to resolve a dispute is to identify and address the problem before it reaches the point where litigation is inevitable.
As a "problem solver" for clients, Chris has found that an ever increasing portion of his practice is serving in an advisory role to clients on general business matters. Chris prides himself on developing close, ongoing relationships with his clients. As a trusted advisor, Chris immerses himself in his clients' business, understanding both their business concerns and objectives. The depth and continuity of this relationship allows Chris's clients to benefit from his ability to foresee challenges before they arise. With this foundation, Chris is then able to work closely together with his clients to proactively identify and address potential problems; frequently averting them altogether.
For Chris, few things compare to the satisfaction that comes with achieving a great result for a client. Sometimes this comes through a victory in the courtroom, but more often the best result for a client comes from identifying and solving the potential problem before it gives rise to litigation, and avoiding the courtroom altogether.
